No connection to MySQL server from host

Post by MrFreez »

Hello,

I'm using WIN XP SP 3 as host to run VB 2.2.4 with a bridge adapter. The guest includes a ubuntu server 8.04 server as lamp installation (no dns or any other feature). With a browser I get connection to the apache default page, a mediawiki installation and to phpmyadmin.

No I'm trying to get connection from the WIN XP host with "php generator for mysql" to the ubuntu server, using port 3306. Any time I try to establish the connection I get the error 10061 and no connection will take place. The WIn host is using no firewall, the apache/mysql server using standard port 3306 (checked!).

I suppose that there has to be done any configuration in WIN host, that the port 3306 can be used. Can anyone help me to fix this problem, please?

AFAIK, the issue is nothing to do with VB, but is more an issue of /etc/mysql/my.cnf setup. Check the MySQL forums, but as far as I remember MySQL is configured for only localhost connection by default.
