Mem Usage on host

I'm running a Vista x64 guest on XP x86 host. I'm just wondering why the Windows Task Manager on the Host only shows the VirtualBox.exe process as using 15MB when the guest is using 512MB. The Commit Charge shows the memory in use being 512MB more than usual but not allocated to any process. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks.

I observed this same behavior running XP as my host OS and both Solaris 10 and CentOS 5.3 as guests.

I noted that there are 3 processes running typically when there is 1 VM running:
-- VBoxSVC.exe (~7 mb)
-- Virtualbox.exe (~5-8MB - the virtual box console -- this goes away when you close the Sun VirtualBox window)
-- Virtualbox.exe (~16-50mb - the Virtual Machine. I have the Solaris client configured with 768MB of memory and the commit charge reflects this number pretty accurately)

The numbers in parenthesis are the numbers reported in Task Manager's 'Processes' tab and validated in Process Explorer.

Like you, I'm curious as to where the allocated memory is getting reported.
