Unable to connect to internet in WIN7RC Guest

Post by makada »

I have a win xpsp3 host and a Win 7Rc guest

After I installed the Virtual Box and the Win7RC....everything was ok
The internet was working immediately
The only thing was audio was not their..so I downloaded inside my guest the Realtek drivers....also I installed the Guest Additions
Then restarted
Then NO internet
It shows that I am connected to network but shows that the internet is down

I am using my laptop connected to a router using WiFi
What happened?

(PS: This is my first experience with Virtual Box and WIn 7)

All of sudden it is working after I tried a wild trick:
I added a second adapter in the virtual box settings with bridge setup.
Adapter 1
Intel PRO/1000 Desktop
NAT
This was already their
I added
Adapter 2
Intel PRO/1000 Desktop
Bridged
Atheros AR5007EG Wireless
Then I booted my WIn 7 Virtual machine
My WIn 7 RC still tells me that I have no internet.

But when I tried to browse the internet now..it is working...although that yellow triangle is there on my status bar telling me that I have not internet.

I dont know what is happening
Although my internet is working I am still not satisfied...why is it that WIn 7 thinks it is not?
ALso in the network map it shows a red cross between my router and internet

I cant figure it out

Probably because it is using the NAT for the DT indicator. You should be able to take the check mark out of the NAT one and then it will just show the Bridged one. Point is it is working.

I disbled the Adapter 1
Then started my WIn7RC

Yup, the yellow triangle is gone

What I wanted to learn is why it was working with Adapter 1 in NAT mode when I first used it and then it stopped working after the additions of audio and guest add ins?
Why does it need Bridge mode now?

Probably just a glitch. It may even work with NAT today. It could have been that you just needed to reboot the unit the other day. It could also be Win 7 RC. They are changing the files, structure daily and will until it is completed.
