Update VirtualBox OSE to version 2.2.4
I've been using Ubuntu for over a year but I am new to VirtualBox. When you download Virtualbox from "Add/Remove programs" it automatically downloads Version 2.1.4. I have tried downloading Version 2.2.4 directly from the website, but then the front end (GUI) does not work with it. Is there a simple update function? Can I just change the Ubuntu dependencies and download again? Thanks

Re: Update VirtualBox OSE to version 2.2.4
If you did not remove the OSE version before you installed a PUEL version from the virtualbox.org web site then that is what is causing your problem.
The OSE version that is supplied through your OS repository may not offer the latest version, but you can download the latest PUEL version from this page and just follow the instruction to add it to your sources list. http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads or you can download the source for the OSE from the download page and Do It Yourself if you like. Just remember to remove the original OSE version before you install the newer PUEL version if that is the one that you choose to use.
