Can't delete media file

Hey there,
somehow there's still a shortcut to a virtual hdd in virtualbox which doesn't exist anymore and so I'm always getting this error-msg on startup:
Manager for virtual hdds:
How can I delete the second entry (data_virt.vdi)? When selecting it, I can't click on "delete". Some time ago this was the second hdd (ide slave) for my virtual machine xp, but I dropped it there, so this should not be used anymore and be deletable...?
thanks!

Arrow down to the actual file name and then click remove. If you can not delete it any other way you can edit the machine.XML and remove the line that contains it.

Thanks, but it's not possible deleting it by using the GUI.
further, there's no machine.xml on my computer!?

By machine.xml, I mean the XML file for the machine that this belongs to. I suspect it will be called WinXP.xml and have a reference to the data_virt.vdi in it. This is the line you need to comment out or remove. Be sure to make a backup in case you delete the wrong thing.

OK thanks,
Yeah I could delete by using the GUI the submenu of data_virt.dvi (when click on the + in front of it), but not the whole entry data_virt.dvi. Further, in WinXP.XML there's no line containing data_virt.dvi

Look in the .virtualbox.xml file then for the reference to data_virt.dvi but make a backup before you delete anything.

thanks, that did the trick.
first deleting the data_virt-hdd in virtualbox.xml, but copying the uuid and than deleting the attached device with this uuid from winxp.xml.
thanks!
