Consistent XP guest freeze

Post by DeadlyMuffin »

I'm running a fresh install of Windows XP Pro off an actual partition, and it will consistently lock up doing different tasks, including opening IE 8 and loading the default home page (msn.com).

The page will start to load, then the VM will lock up using about 90% of my cpu, no mouse movement or anything. The guest is fully updated, but that doesn't seem to matter. I've reinstalled XP with the same result.

I'm running the closed version of virtualbox, but I get the same result with the open source version too. Host is Debian Squeeze (testing). I'm sure there are log files, but I can't locate them. If someone can point me in the right direction I'll put them up.

Thanks.

Edit: Just as a follow-up, I have the same issue even if I boot XP in safe mode. Anybody out there have this issue?
