I'm running a windows xp sp2 guest on vista x64 sp1 host. The problem is, on win xp guest i cannot make to work the virtual soundcard, because there isn't drivers for it. Where can i get the xp driver for this ich ac97 or sb16???

Dou have a crappy nlited XP or a full XP?

In a full XP ac97 the driver is included. Check System Control / Device Manager for unknown devices, delete them and try again.

If you have a crappy nlited XP, then check Realtek homepage for a ac97 driver.

i did check realtek drivers... bsod, then bsod at boot, even in reduced mode.

And the other parts of the post?

i use nlited xp, but i put in the original driver.cab, what should contain all drivers... but don't.

Install a full XP. Then you dont have this problem.

I loaded Windows 7 RC in VirtualBox 2.2.4 with Windows Vista as a host and have NO audio or Internet connectivity.

W7 settings should have default LAN settings, meaning Intel adapter, set to NAT. Audio driver is in Windows Update.

Care to explain a few things? See the Forum Posting Guide for more info. All you yell now is "it doesn't work!". As if we have a crystal boll that tells us what you have.

My Host Driver is Windows Direct Sound
My Controller is ICH AC97

My Network adapter is Intel Pro/1000 MT Desktop (NAT)

Both are enabled

Under Other Devices I have a Multimedia Audio Controller with no driver

I have no wireless Internet access via VirtualBox Windows 7, but do have it with Vista host

Go read the manual on what NAT really means in VB. Also check the VirtualBox FAQ. Whatever you do, leave the NAT adapter on DHCP, don't set it manually.

Well, I have NO sound in guest Win 7. VBox is 2.2.4.

I have solved both my Internet connection and sound problems as follows:

1) When you turn on your computer go to the BIOS configuration (via appropriate Function key) and be sure that the setting for Virtualization is "enabled"

2) Load Windows 7 RC (32 bit) as a VM, and then run "guest additions" (X86). I had to "mount the CD drive iso" and double click on "guest additions.iso" to bring up a menu for "setup" or "view". Click on "view" and then click on "guestadditions-x86"

3) Go back to the VirtualBox "settings" > "network" and choose "Enable" + "Intel Pro/1000 MT Desktop" + "Bridged Adapter" + "Atheros WiFi Adapter"

4) Be sure you have a WiFi connection to your host system

5) Start the Win 7 Internet connection (and use troubleshoot if necessary). The Win 7 connection will then find the host computer WiFi card and connect to it, giving Internet access to Win 7.

6) Do a "Microsoft Update" on Win 7. Mine found 8 downloads, the third of which was the proper driver for the "Windows DirectSound" "ICH AC97" controller.

Now everything works OK for me. The Internet must be connected to the host before it will connect to Win 7.

I hope this will help others correct their problem.
