Hi all,
I'm trying to migrate my WinXP guest from VMWare to VirtualBox 2.2.4, after installing VirtualBoxAdditions I've encountered the following problems:
1. The guest window can not be resized to fullscreen even through Auto-resize Guest Display. It insists on 800x600 display.
2. No network connection using any kind of adapter (NAT, Bridged, Host, etc).
Again, this is not a fresh installation, I just grab the existing vmdk to be hosted by VirtualBox.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Setya

Re: Problem after migrating WinXP guest from VMWare
I suspect the problem is that the VMware VMDK still has their guest additions in it and that is messing with VirtualBox.
Is there a way you can uninstall the VMware guest additions before you try to import it in VBox?
Other solutions might be to use the Windows device manager to remove the video adapter and network adapter and tell it to search for new ones to force it to use the VBox drivers. This can be done if you know what you are doing but you should make a backup of the VMDK in case something goes horribly wrong.

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
I've uninstalled the VMWare Tool addition. Now I can display the guest in full screen size. But the network connection is still missing. I'll try from the Windows device manager.

Hi,
I've removed the Network Adapter through Windows device manager then restart the guest. Now I can get network connection via NAT, but when I use Bridge the Status always Limited or No Connectivity, I've tried Repair without luck.

Hi,
Now I can get network connection with Bridged adapter if I use 'wlan1' as the host is using wireless adapter.
Happy now on VirtualBox 2.4.4.
