File Sharing, USB Support, Guest/Host Cut and Paste

My apologies up front with being a neophyte at virtual computing. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
1. I downloaded Virtualbox for Windows Hosts 2.2.4 (no idea what Ubunto or other release names mean) to my Windows Vista system.
2. Installed it and created a guest windows machine
3. Booted from my Windows XP CDs and installed XP as a guest.
4. Confirmed I have access to the internet for XP updates.
5. Installed the Guest Extensions
So at this point I have a working XP guest system and the keyboard and mouse behave as expected. My problems now are:
1. I defined a folder on my host as a shared folder. I can define that folder to the guest system using the Devices menu, but I don’t know and can’t figure out from reading the documentation how to let XP know where the folder is. Do I mount it as a network drive? What do I use as the folder name of the Network mapping dialog? Nothing seems to work.
2. I can’t seem to access a USB device from XP. Again, my ports show up in the Devices menu for USB, but how does XP get them?
3. Cut and paste between the host and guest doesn’t work. I can copy in the host, but the paste menu is dimmed in the guest.

What am I missing? Any help would be most appreciated.

Share Folder:
From a command prompt type: net use z: \\vboxsvr\sharename -p (where the sharename is what you called it in VBox)

USB:
A Blank Filter will allow almost everything to work but once you boot the guest you must unplug the device and plug it back in to allow the guest to get focus. The (+) or fixed filter makes it available to the guest as soon as it boots but has problems.

Copy/paste is text mode only and used via the shared clipboard.
