guest 1 cannot ping guest 2

Post by pctvbox »

I need my application in guest XP to connect to database in guest Windows 2003. very basic everyday requirement.

for some reason no matter what i've tried, i just can't get the guests to communicate with each other. any hint is much appreciated.

my setting: host ubuntu 9.04. Virtualbox 2.4. Guests Windows 2003 and WIndows XP, Bridged Networking for both. Both have different IP address 192.168.1.xx and 192.168.1.yy. Internet access from guests works perfectly. Guests can see and ping all other machines in the network. The only issue is : the guests just cannot communicate with each other.

Sounds like it could be a firewall issue.

Other than that you can from a command prompt type ipconfig /all and compare the output of both to see if there is an issue.
While in the command window type net view and see if you can see both guests, they must be running too.
