Hope this helps someone.

Yes! thank you. I already had nested paging enabled as usual, so I don't know if that was necessary, but I added IO APIC and that fixed it for me too!
VirtualBox org has really been doing a great job. I can't do this with Microsoft's virtual PC.

Work! I'm installing Windows 7 64-bit Upgrade over Windows XP 32-Bit, but I'd rec'd this 0xc0000225 boot manager error message. Switched the two items you mention and it's loading now. I also read elsewhere to switch the XP setting in VB to 64-bit prior to boot, so I used this setting as well from before. Another hour and I'll know for sure... Thanks!

Just came to say thanks to craig. That IO APIC setting fixed it.

@Craig100: Thanks for following up. You solution worked for me using MacOS 10.6.4 as the host.

Thanks Craig100, that worked perfectly for me, just needed to check the box to enable IO APIC.

IO APIC should be enabled automatically if you select 64 bit as OS type. Since this thread was about W7 RC, and SP1 got released already, I'm locking this one.
