Hi. This is all pretty new to me and I just found out about Virtual Box a few days ago. Basically, I am running Windows Vista and wanted to install Windows XP Pro as a Guest system (I think that's what it is called when on a virtual drive) I've had some problems with Vista and wanted to use XP again to run some programs. I installed XP and it seemed to work ok with the defaults settings. The problem I have is that I don't know how to setup a network connection so I can get on the internet with XP. It shows that I am connected at 100 mbps on my cable modem while using XP but I can't get on websites. The other problem I've had is trying to get my webcam program (Logitech Quickcam) to work on XP. The webcam won't show video and I wanted to ask what settings I should use for video? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe there is a simple guide that shows the basics on what settings to use? I just want to use Vista which is pre-installed on my computer and use XP for some things. I'm not advanced at this and my head is spinning from all the computer terms on the how-to's and forums.

Re: Problem With Windows XP As Guest On Windows Vista
Network:
With XP, selecting the default NIC emulation, PCNetIII will work just fine, but you might want to try one of the Intel adapters. If you pick the Intel/PRO1000T Server, Xp will have the driver for it and install it without issues. But before doing that, check the VirtualBox FAQ for some common issues that can happen with NAT.
Webcam:
There are some known issues with webcams not showing the video, but a black picture instead. Nothing we can do about to get it working, other than hope that the devs will fix it someday. Sorry, but this just won't work.

Re: Problem With Windows XP As Guest On Windows Vista
Thanks for your help. I was able to get on the internet by using the default settings and choosing "LAN" when my Windows XP installs. As far as the webcam, I hope that I can use it sometime but at least I know it wasn't me. Thanks again.
