Full screen issue

Post by sharf »

ok so I installed VB on my home computer, after setting it up on several computers at work. I installed windows 7 on it here, just like I did there. My issue, and I can't tell why, is that full screen wont cover the taskbar, or the very right hand side of the screen(about a scroll bar's width). So I can't use it as if it was just the OS, plus, any resolution I pick(even those larger than my host OS resolution) it will not fill the screen completely, windowed or full screen. My host OS is set to 1440x900 resolution, thinking this was an odd resolution, I tried switching my host resolution to resolutions that Windows 7 could match, like 800x600, and still it will not fill the screen completely. This causes all kinds of mouse control issues that I haven't had before. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, sharf

No, haven't heard of those before actually. Can you explain?

You don't mean when I pick which OS to Install when I set up a VM do you?

Sure on the guest after it is installed and running click on device tab (top left of the VBox window) and then install guest additions. Also you can click on help and then contents in the VBox program and the users guide is there to help you with these details.

Unfortunately, that didn't fix it. Well, it fixed the mouse issues, not the full screen issues

I have heard of a few people that actually selected the screen size they wanted in the guest OS (Win 7), but I did not need to do that myself. Check on the auto-resize button in the machine tab and make sure that it is selected. It turns blue around it when activated. Then you should be able to adjust the size of the window using the mouse and dragging it to the size you want to by hitting HOST+F

Yeah, that works. The issue is that when I go full screen, it doesn't fill the entire screen, the task bar covers part of it(meaning full screen is not going on top of other programs, because I can put windows ontop) and there is a tiny gap on the right between the guest OS and the host OS. This is something I've never encountered before, it must be my system's configuration.
