I have two virtualbox installs on two XP hosts each running an xubuntu guest. Every two weeks or so they just lock up, sometimes at 3am. This is getting a little inconvienant for me. So far Ive:
Updated to the newest version of virtualbox
Removed guest tools
Updated XP network drivers
Disabled USB, ACPI, and anything else I can disable.
Im still getting lock ups. The entire Virtualbox app locks up, not just the client window. Is there anything else I can do? So far the event log and /var/logs reveals nothing of interest. Thanks.

Re: random lockups
These may not help you but I have at lease 3 (9's) on my units.
- Some things that I have found that cause problems:
Guest screen savers, power savers, virus software that tries to inspect the network connections.
McAfee seems to be the worst, with Norton following closely behind. AVG free does not seem to cause these problems.
Letting Windows do a defrag on the guest really torks it out for some reason.
Using time sync other than the one on host sometimes messes up things too. I set mine to sync with the host instead of the NTP servers of the world.
I do have the guest additions installed and all default settings are still on, so for me the VBox was not the main problem but I needed to tune the OSes to run in this environment.
