CPU Useage and Time Differential

Post by FiveAlive »

I've just upgraded my PC to an AMD dual-core 2.7Ghz CPU with 2GB of RAM, and for the first 2 days virtual box was running like a dream. I had CPU useage on both cores at around 1% when the guest OS was idle.

Now for some reason the CPU is at around 50% on both cores, but what's causing the biggest problem is the time differential. The time goes around one third slower on the guest OS, which is really frustrating.

Are they any settings I can try to change to find out what the problem? I have setup a basic VM that boots from CD (which is a Knopphix Live CD ISO file). If you need anymore info on my system please ask and thanks for any help in advance.

I think that what I would ask myself is what added or changed on the 3rd day. If it was working smoothly until then something was added or changed that made the difference.

Thanks for the reply. Well this is really wierd, I tried it again yesterday and had 1% CPU useage and everything worked fine. I haven't changed anything on the PC at all - I had 2 virtual machines open at the same time and it worked like a dream. I've no idea why it wasn't working for those 2 days.
