Slow shared folder with Win2K

Post by DBeckett »

Mepis 8.0.0.6 host.
VBox 2.2.2 (not OSE)
Windows 2000 Pro guest (VBA 2.2.2)

I've used VBox with Linux since v1.6 without any serious or unsolvable issues.
This issue is not serious, just annoying.

I have a shared folder created in Mepis that I've always used to pass files back and forth with Win2K. Since I upgraded VBox to 2.2.2, opening this shared folder in Win2K for the first time in a session takes 30 seconds. Once open, it works fine. No errors, no crashes.

There has always been a bit of a delay when using this shared folder, maybe two or three seconds, but now it's 30 seconds to open it for the first time, which seems like a very long time to wait.

Previous versions of VBox didn't do this.
Is there a known cause?

Thanks for any ideas.

Terrific. I waded through many pages of previous posts before I decided to ask, but I never thought to include any MAC-related material.

That works great. The Win2K VM actually even boots quicker, and the shared folder opens instantly. I never would have thought to look in the hosts file.

Many thanks.
