Sorry if this has been discussed else where but the forum search function doesn't seem to be working (keeps saying check back later...).
I am using Vista Home Premium 64-bit (Service Pack 2, running on a Core i7) and am trying to install VirtualBox 2.2.2 (VirtualBox-2.2.2-46594-Win). The install seems to go fine, but afterwards I keep getting a "Program Compatibility Assistant" window stating "This program may not have installed correctly".
Are other people getting this? Is this OK?
I have the option of either "This program installed correctly" or "Reinstall using recommended settings". Unfortunantly I don't know what the 'recommended settings' are so I am a bit hesitant to click one or the other.

Re: VBox and the Vista Compatibility Assistant?
You have a few options here.
- 1. Check the bios and see if the hyper-v is turned on (VT-x/AMD-v). If there is not an option to turn on hardware Virt then this could be causing the problem.
- 2. Right click on the install icon and left click on run as admin. See if the error shows this way.
- 3. Or go ahead and accept that the install was OK and see what happens. You should be able to remove the program if it does not work properly.

Re: VBox and the Vista Compatibility Assistant?
Well, I have verified that Virtualization is enabled in the BIOS and have tried running the installer as Administrator and I still get the compatibility window popping up. I'll try just saying 'it installed correctly'. Just wish I knew what Vista 'thought' the problem was (could it be any more vague?).

Re: VBox and the Vista Compatibility Assistant?
Please let us know how it turns out. I have not seen that many compatibility assistant warnings and most of the time it was just after Vista came out. I have seen and heard of signing warnings but that never effected the program in any way. Just had to say yes to the warning and all went fine.
Also you can look in the Windows log and it should tell you more about the problem it though you were having.

Re: VBox and the Vista Compatibility Assistant?
Well, everything seems to be working so far although I haven't really stressed the guest installation yet. I did try looking for more information in the event Log but it really didn't shed light on anything. I may uninstall and re-install it again tonight to see if I can narrow it down a bit more.
