hostif networking windows guest

Hi,

I posted a similar message in the Linux Host board, but I'm still having trouble and hoping that maybe someone here can help me.

I have a win2k3 guest on a linux host. This linux host has several other guests (all linux guests) which work fine with hostif networking. I have bridges setup for each network interface. In the linux guest I simply assign a static IP with the host as the gateway, and this all works fine for the linux guests.

So I tried the exact same setup for the win2k3 guest. I have a bridge and a hostif for the guest. On the windows, I have the TCP/IP setup with static IP.

My host IP is 192.168.1.200, and this is what I use as the gateway for all the linux guests.

Here's what I have for ipconfig on the windows:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : AMD PCNET Family PCI Ethernet Adapter
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 08-00-27-9D-A8-32
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.208
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.200
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

But it simply refuses to work. I cannot ping the host, and the host cannot ping the guest.

If I change to NAT and dhcp on the guest, then everything is fine. But hostif and static IP on the guest simply does not work.

I'm using vbox 2.0.6.

Any clues on how to debug this?
