I know that 2.2.2 was being a pain at least for me but I'm wondering if they'll be a new version up for grabs any time soon so before I start to need it again for required stuff in the fall and can get some bug reports in before hand if needed. It looks like someones seems to have been working in the uncompiled program every time I visit this site by the time stamps , so something must be coming around the corner soon .

Yes, there are quite some updates on the SVN, but isn't that normal? How else would they keep progress? If they don't commit to SVN once a day, you could say that they are either stuck on something, or took a day off (like weekends and holidays).

There is no real release schedule. If you check the release dates of prior versions, you can make an estimate on when the next one will be released, but it's only speculation.

I'm sure its normal but I'd still love to see a couple compiled svns available. Miro(getmiro.com) compiles each night (as an example) and a couple other sites as well. I'd just think if they happen to trip over a major bug or a designated amount of bugs they could make a release for people to mess with. Every mindsets different on how they build. Just as I'll say keep numbering consistent(another story ).

Well, you get the OSE version when you checkout SVN, so it's expected you compile it yourself. Pre-build versions only show up if it's a PUEL version, so you have to wait for that if you don't want to compile the bunch (and pay way too much for the MS compilers).

ms compilers ? Isn't this a java based program. If its compiled with microsoft , thats not a problem except I haven't tripped over the package file or a how to file for it. Maybe one day I'll mess but my luck you'll hear more from me than I want if I do try to get all those files and compile.

Just because Sun has VB now, doesn't mean it's build in Java. If it was, it would be slow like a snail. Remember that VB first started from Innotek. It's written in C. Check the technical documentation on the wiki, it lists exactly what you need to compile the OSE version.

If I was taking over a companies code I'd think that step would come at least as ease for the coders in the long run. I don't think in my classes I have ever built an system intensive program in java but I'd think c++ would be more of a pain . At least Java and Visual basic have a graphical interface from ground up.
