Try setting the guest memory to no more than 50% of your total RAM that is available. 1024 meg is a good number to try. Other than that you should provide the exact guest settings and the host memory plus version number of VBox. Do you really have the OSE version of VBox or is it the PUEL version?

I did, it was 2048

I changed it to 1024 per your suggestion and it worked.

No, my mistake. I couldn't find the version type

Thanks

Hi.
I'm trying to install W7 RC1 build 7100 in VitualBox 2.2.2 but it doesn't work at all (host= XP 32bits pro SP3). I dedicated more than 50% of physical memory to the guest (i have 4 GB but my host SO only see 3 of them, so a put 2 GB for W7). Could it be a problem? (i decided to put that amount of RAM because i want to install modern games).
Thanks for your answer. Bye.

PD: I have the same error log that aarongc has.

Well the first thing to do is not give Windows 7 RC any more than half of your available memory or it will hang at a black screen for a long time and then die.
I suggest that you start with 1024 Meg (remember that Windows likes to see standard memory allocation units). See screenshot of my settings below. You can tweak it after you get it up and running. Also I used the IntelPRO/1000 MT adapter for my system, and this could also be an issue. I don't think MS provides the default driver that VBox suggests and this can cause it to fail on the install.

Thanks a lot.
But i can't use my network connection now. I read the Manual but it "refuses" to work, je.
Another thing is i can't add a shared folder to my W7 (when i select it in the appropiate place, the windows dialog doesn't let me click OK). why?
About the modern games i want to install. Is it posible or not? Will they use the entire RAM of my video card?
Thanks for your answers. Bye

For your network the easiest would be to use NAT and don't forget I said that you should use the IntelPRO/1000 MT adapter. You may need to use the other (server) because of drivers.

Shared folder will only work after you install the guest additions.

As for games you more than likely will not get them to work because VBox only supports OpenGL at the moment and is still experimental.

Thanks Again. So, can i reduce the amount of disk a dedicated for the virtual disk? (it is changing from 60 GB to 30 GB, for example; because of i can't install the modern games). Or can i copy the actual installation of W7 (about 6 GB) into a new VDI? (or do i have to do that?)

Bye.
