[Networking] with Host PC

Post by iceangel89 »

:!: i tried the various networking options NAT, Internal and Host only, but so far didnt get my virtual PC and main PC to see each other ... isit because my Host is Windows 7? or rather both Windows 7 RC x64? i noticed my guest PC IP is on a different network ... my host is 192.168.1.xx and my guest is something different but on a total differnt network (eg. 169.254.180.60 with Internal Network) ... so probably the wont see each other

hmm with Internal Network, there isnt internet at all ...

Internal is for VM to VM only, you can't go outside or see the Host.
Host-Only will allow you to get communication between the VMs and Host, but again, you can't go outside the Host. You do need to configure the settings for this interface in the VB preferences (not the VM prefs, you only set it to use the interface there).
The last option is Bridged. This will make the VM a part of your network. However, even though other machines on your network can access the VM and the VM the other machines, it's possible that Host <> Guest communication is not working properly.

I'm also moving this one level further, to Win 7 Hosts.
