Hi
I'm pretty new to virtualbox and I have searched for an answer but none appeared satisfactory.I run linux mint 6 as host with a legal copy of windows xp pro 32bit as virtual machine. My question is why does the the software cd I purchased refuse to run and asks for the original cd to be inserted? I believe it must be something to do with protection software but if everything I have is original and licensed why cannot VB read it?
Yes it works perfectly on a native windows machine.
Am I missing something or doing something wrong or is this the big drawback with virtualisation.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Andy

Re: cd problem
You can try to enable Passthrough for the physical device. Other than that, well, that's indeed the drawback of virtualization. Not all options work for the cdrom. Most notable is playing audio CD's. That doesn't work with VB.

Re: cd problem
Try creating an image of the cd and use that instead.

Re: cd problem
I'm having the same problem. Programs install from cd's normally but never seem to actually find them during runtime. The strange thing is that daemon tools exibits the same behaviour... Is there any way to solve this problem at all?
