HELP!Something wrong with my VHD!

Post by hjqv »

Hi,everyone~
I have a problem with my VHD file.
When I am using VirtualBox on Ubuntu 8.10,suddenly the electricity is shutdown!
Then the electricity lives again,I turn on my computer, continue to run VirtualBox,but it failed.
It says my VHD file "Could not get the storage format of the hard disk"
Then I turn to my host XP system, run Virtual PC 2007,mount the VHD file,it works normally.
So,how to fix my VHD file, makes it work normally in VirtualBox?
My VirtualBox version is V2.2.2.
Thanks guys!

Sounds like your virtualbox.xml file has gotten corrupt. You can either look at the file if you know what the settings should be or start over by deleting the VM from the GUI (without deleting the actual VHD) and then remount the VHD again. This should bring you back to a workable state.
Be careful on what you choose when deleting the VM from the GUI! Make sure that you have a backup of the original VHD!

I rebuild a new virtualbox.xml, still can't mount the VHD,so I think there must be something wrong with my VHD file.

When I was using VirtualBox, suddenly my notebook was turned off! My VHD was inaccessible, so I removed and tried to clear all configutations files(xml). when I try to put the vhd that image appear(post before). Now, I created a virtual machine in Hyper-V and put the VHD to works, after i got the VHD and create a new virtual machine in virtual box and now the VirtualBox can load the file again. That was my solution...but the file was corrupted. When is almost starting the virtual machine reboot. I want to know if I need to create a Virtual Machine using Hyper-v (or virtualPC) every time that my machine suddenly shutdown. On virtualPC can everything happen and the virtual machine can start again.

Sorry, my english isn't so good. I hope you understand.
