I am using VB version 2.2.2r46594 to run XP inside Vista. Several times I have tried to install and run Mathcad 12. The installation goes OK but Mathcad won't start up when I want to use it. Can anyone help cure this problem. Mathcad needs .NET Framework which I have installed OK.
Thanks
Mathcad 12 will not start

Re: Mathcad 12 will not start
Any error messages? Are you sure you installed the correct version of .NET? You're not running it from a share, but installed locally?

Re: Mathcad 12 will not start
Hello,
There are no error messages, when you click the mathcad icon it just does nothing.
The Mathcad CD comes with .NET Framework 1.1 and checking on the list of installed programmes there is:
.NET Framework 1.1
.NET Framework 1.1 Hot fix
.NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1
.NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1
.NET Framework 3.5
I don't really know what .net does for you but I guess I am up to date with this...
Everything is installed in XP inside VB

Re: Mathcad 12 will not start
I had some issues with .NET apps before, where it didn't run properly. Now there is no more issues, as the program uses the newer .NET framework, 2.0 and higher. I suggest you use a newer version too. I saw at their website, that Mathcad 14 uses .NET 2.0. I don't know the costs of the program itself, but if you can, really, try a newer version.

Re: Mathcad 12 will not start
As you can see I have .NET framework 3.5 installed although I now see that 4.0 is now available. I'll install this but have doubts...
I also see that .NET framework incorporates a virtual machine of its own so I was wondering if this might cause a problem when you run it inside Virtual Box. Any thoughts anyone?

Re: Mathcad 12 will not start
Get yourself familiar with .NET first. When you install .NET 2.0, you still CAN'T run .NET 1.1 programs. It's not compatible. Even if version 342.3 would be released and you install it, you still won't be able to run the 1.1 app, without a working 1.1 install and environment. VB has some issues with that, as I stated before.
