Shared folders lost on each run

Post by poisonborz »

Hola, I'm using the latest Virtualbox on XP (with XP guest), but have a strange problem: shared folders disappear after each restart of virtualbox. Is this by design, or a bug?

Did you toggle the "reconnect at logon" option?
If you did it can be a timing issue, when windows re-connects while its booting the VBox portion may not yet be activated.

I just didn't realize the difference between Machine and Transient folders... Folders set in the manager app are permanent now...

There should be a warning message when first creating a Transient folder (with "make permanent" unticked), that this folder will disappear after a restart. I know, the name "Transient" is telling, but many people won't realize what it means.

Which is why it's documented in the manual ;).
