After configuring VM (using Win98 as O/S -Host using Win XP) the boot disk is inserted into A:\ and after starting VM will begin to load driver for CD-ROM. The floppy drive stops after generic drive info is given (approx. 30-45 seconds) and I am unable to load Win98 (on cd).
The same problem occurred on two seperate PC's but Win 98 was able to be loaded as an O/S for VM on a third PC using the same boot disk . (VM configuration was the same on all PC's).
Appreciate the help.

General: OS Type: Windows 98, Base Memory: 100MB, Video Memory: 5MB, Boot Order: Floppy-CD/DVD-Hard Disk, ACPI:Enabled, IO APIC: Disabled, VT-x/AMD-V: Enabled, Nested Paging: Disabled, PAE/NX: Disabled, 3D Acceleration: Disabled.
Hard Disks:IDE Primary Master: MS Win 98.vdi (Normal,2.00 GB)
CD/DVD-ROM: Host Drive: F:
Floppy: Host Drive: A:

The version of Windows is "Windows 98SE".

Disable ACPI, VT.

Set RAM to 128 MB, VGA to 4 MB.

I was able to Disable ACPI but I didn't realize that "Enable VT-x/AMD-V" was checked / greyed out and I do not know how to disable this option. Other than that the memory has been modified but I still run into the same problem.

If the cdrom driver hangs you have got the wrong one, not all sys drivers work well.

An option to get around this CD problem is to copy the setup files to a virtual harddisk image first .
