Use local printer while connecting via RDP

I'm a complete noob when it comes to RDP. The task that has been given to me is to create a virtual machine in which the employees at our satellite location could access the main database. This went off without a hitch and the satellite location can successfully connect using RDP. The problem I am having is getting it set up where they can print to their local printers. I just can't seem to figure out how to get local resources working in this scenario. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In a Windows RPD it is as simple as telling the RDP connection to print local. See the local resource tab in the remote desktop connection wizard.

Have printers selected in the local resources tab. I'm almost certain that I am missing something very simple somewhere and just have been trying to figure it out for too long.

While running the program, if you go to file print (not just hit the print button) are you not given a selection to print to your local printer?

Just request that I add a printer. At which point it finds none.

The printer drivers used must be installed on both sides.

Ok I have the printer driver installed on both systems. I thought it might have been an issue with using vRDP vs standard RDP so I tried to forward the ports and can't seem to get that working. set host port to 3390 and guest to 3389 with tcp protocol. All this list successfully in my virtualbox xml file. Any further advice?
