hi, I'am new at ubuntu and to virtual box... however I want to use it to run some programs that are available only for windows and mac... anyway...
I tryed to install the virtual box package I got from http://dlc.sun.com/virtualbox/vboxdownload.html#linux ... after I runed it... but I got a:
Error: Dependecy is not satisfiable: libqt4-network
So the instalation is stoped... I've allready tryed
- sudo aptitude install libqt4-core
- sudo apt-get install -f
on the Terminal... but it didnt solved the problem :S if anyone knows something or has an idea I'll strongly appriciate...

*** I got ubuntu 8.10, and downloaded:
Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) virtualbox-2.2_2.2.2-46594_Ubuntu_intrepid_i386.deb***

thnks,
Hazim

What does apt-cache search libqt4-network say? If it can't find it, you probably don't have the repo source enabled that has that package. Though, a default Ubuntu install should have no issues for that. What was the output from the install commands? Check with gdebi-gtk what version is needed for 2.2.2 on your system.

For ubuntu go a bit down on this page: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
and add the corresponding repository. -then follow those instructions and it should be solved....

Sasquatch,
I did the apt-cache search libqt4-network search and nothing happened:
**********************************************************************
hazim@DalAiiHazim:~$ apt-cache search libqt4-network
hazim@DalAiiHazim:~$
**********************************************************************

baf,
I'am guessing you mean for me to download the:
Ubuntu 8.10 ("Intrepid Ibex") i386 | AMD64
I downloaded the i386 and the same error came out...
then I downloaded the AMD64 just in case.. and it gave me:
wrong architecture 'amd64'

:( :? :( :?

Since you didn't get a result from your apt-cache search, it's very obvious you're missing your normal sources. Check /etc/apt/sources.list for the repo's that are in there. You will need something like this, copy/paste it from here if you're not sure. Replace Jaunty with your release name.

This is with the server from the Netherlands, as that's the closest one for me ;). Replace nl with your country code, or just check http://packages.ubuntu.com for other mirrors. You can even download the missing package from there, but I'm sure you will have more dependencies missing.
