Hello, I am trying to get VirtualBox going on Fedora Core 10. The installation, build, etc., goes fine, no errors. Then when I start the VirtualBox application from the command prompt, I get the following error:
VirtualBox: supR3HardenedMainGetTrustedMain: dlopen("/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so",) failed: /usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so: undefined symbol: _ZN8QPainter10drawPixmapERK7QPointFRK7QPixmap
Now I searched around on google and have seen references to similar errors being due to old version of QT. I have the latest version of QT installed, I believe:
qt.i386 1:4.4.3-2.fc10 installed
qt-x11.i386 1:4.4.3-2.fc10 installed
Please help!

Re: Help! Error starting VirtualBox
Do a "yum update".
This has solved my similar problem.

Re: Help! Error starting VirtualBox
There are a few prerequisites to do before installing Vbox. Check here for those http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=205070 and also read section 2.3 of the VBox users guide. If none of these work for you then maybe installing the PUEL version will.

Re: Help! Error starting VirtualBox
Followed all the suggestions. Still no love. It probably has something to do with Qt4, but I am not sure what. Qt4 is installed... When I grep for QPainter10drawPixmap in /usr/lib I get lots of matches... The version of VirtualBox that I am trying to install IS the PUEL version -- I downloaded the RPM. Tried installing it using "rpm -i", tried installing it using 'yum'. Installation goes without a hitch, but when I launch VirtualBox, same error.

Try to update Qt (to 4.5) via yumex.

Re: Help! Error starting VirtualBox
This error is one nasty bugger. It's been asked a few times already on the forums. Use the Google search trick on the first few characters of the error (Supr...) and check the results. There are various possible fixes.
