Cannot bridge network

Post by dchurch24 »

Hi all,

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 (rt) with VirtualBox 2.0.4 ose.

I have installed trixbox (CentOS) as a virtual machine, and it gets given an IP address 10.0.2.15. The host machine is 192.168.1.2.

I can't get either machine to see each other. I have tried going through the multitude of tutorials about bridging the network, but most use something called VBoxTunctl which I don't have. Apparently this was removed some time on 2008. Because of this, I can't follow any of the tutorials to their conclusion and as such still cannot bridge the network.

Is this version different in some way, in as much as it doesn't need VBoxTunctl and there is another (simpler) way of getting my VM to see my network?

Ideally, I'd like the VM to be on the same subnet/network.

You're going to need Bridge mode, I don't know if OSE has this, the PUEL version ofcourse has it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I downloaded 2.2 in the end, and you can set it to use the host networking in the settings.

Thanks again,

dchurch.
