VirtualBox audio virtualization not found in Windows 7 RC
I setup VM running Windows 7 RC as Guest on Host running Vista. I installed VBoxGuestAdditions.iso on the Guest. Network virtualization is working but not audio virtualization. Anyone know how to fix it?

You have (2) options. You can download the newest reatek drivers or it may be possible to just run the Windows update to install the drivers. I understand that they are out now.

Re: VirtualBox audio virtualization not found in Windows 7 RC
Sorry but this solution did not work. First, Realtek HD Audio drivers are not available on the Windows Update website. Second, I was able to download the latest version of the Realtek HD Audio drivers at the company's website and successfully installed the drivers. Then in VirtualBox I reverted to my first snapshot which was before installing the VMGuestAdditions, then reinstalled VMGuestAdditions and restarted the VM but Windows 7 RC is still unable to detect audio device. I read other posts about this and apparently the latest version of VirtualBox was built for Windows 7 beta and is not fully compatible with Windows 7 RC.

Windows 7 is still not a fully supported OS since it is still not a ratified complete OS and is subject to change. Most people have been able to install the Realtek drivers and then update their system. Of course this may not work for everyone. When the actual OS is delivered the drivers and any compatibility issues will be addressed. Reverting back in time to where that drivers are not loaded will negate what you installed. As for building for a system that is evolving you surely understand that this can change since the OS is changing daily. Remember that RC stand for release candidate and things will change which makes extremely difficult to address.daocampo wrote:Sorry but this solution did not work. Re: VirtualBox audio virtualization not found in Windows 7 RC
Yes, I do realize that RC is merely a release candidate, subject to change, as I have obtained RC's for Vista in the past as well. I am running Windows 7 RC simply to get a preview of the GUI and note similarties and differences with Vista. I am curious as to how some users of VirtualBox were able to get their version of Windows 7 RC to recognize the virtual audio driver; are you sure it wasn't the beta release that once worked? Hopefully though the VirtualBox developers will soon have a build to address the latest release candidate of Windows 7 if not for any other reason, they should simply want to keep pace with the latest changes in the OS.

Are you sure that W7 RC didn't find the driver for the sound card? I just installed W7 RC and WU found the driver. See the screenshot.

Re: VirtualBox audio virtualization not found in Windows 7 RC
Yes, Windows 7 RC did find the sound driver but only after I deleted the old VM and installed a new VM.
