virtualbox.org

I cant get kubuntu to:

A. connect to a network
B. get internet from the network
C. get internet from the host os
D. mount the usb modem, all other usb devices mount fine, but not my HSDPA modem.


Any ideas? tried reading the virtual box help files on NAT but they were no help. tried changing the ip address and default gateway of the VirtualBox host only network icon in Windows network connections...

I need the internet in kubuntu to access the repositories...

How is the host connecting to the Internet?
Is Windows 7 truly your primary operating system?

The host is either connecting through a connection shared on another computer, or i plug in a 3G usb modem... i tried mounting the modem in virtual box to use it in linux but it never mounts.

An ya, windows 7 is my primary... y do u ask? thought id try it out properly untill the beta expires, going back to vista then...

Explain exactly what you mean by connection shared on another computer. In detail! How it is setup and how it works.
The reason the USB device is not mounting could be because you have not installed the Guest Additions.
Even so you would need to have the Host connected to the USB modem and then tell the Guest to use that connection because VB is using a virtual network not the real thing.
As for the Win 7, just curious. It just seems odd to tie the PC to an OS that is doomed to go away, not to mention the problem that you can have with drivers not being available and such.
