error installing Windows 7 64-bit

My computer is a Dell Studio 1737 laptop with a Intel Core2 Duo T6400 CPU and with 4gb Ram and a 400gb HDD.
Host: Window Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Virtual Box: 2.2.2 r46594
Guest: en_windows_7_ultimate_rc_checked_build_x64_dvd_347832.iso

I've configured a virtual Machine with 2000mb of ram and 20gb HDD everything else is the default settings. When I start the VM I get a "Windows is Loading Files" screen. After a few minutes I get a Windows Boot Manager screen that says "Windows failed to start", At the bottom of the screen it says

"Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode."

Does Virtual Box support 64=bit Guest OS? Everything I've read so far says it does. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Appreciate and assistance or guidance anyone can give.

Your bios must support hyper-v (VT-x/AMD-v), Check to see that you have this and that it is turned on.

I am having the same problem. I have VT-x technology but it is not activated....and it cannot be activated because HP has locked the BIOS. In speaking with tech support at HP It appears this is the case for all newer HP models. ( I guess "The computer is NOT personal again.")I changed the XLM coding and that did not seem to help. Any suggestions - download the W7 32 Bit?

If you do not have the ability to turn the bios feature for hyper-v on then yes download the 32 bit version it should run for you.

Thank you for that information. I will check out my BIOS and see if that is supported.
