Vbox gives a blank screen!

Ok, I've had this problem for a while and the IRC has not been able to help me at all. I am running Kubuntu 9.04 with the latest version of Vbox-ose from the repositories and for whatever reason my Vbox will not install my XP iso. A friend of mine visited today, and I wanted to try something. He's running Kubuntu 9.04 as well, but Vbox takes the exact same iso and installs the OS perfectly. I'm using the exact same method on both computers, they are both laptops. The only difference is I'm AMD64 and he's Intel. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? It's just a blank screen.

Also note that Vbox wont install the ISO I used to put Kubuntu on my computer.

Is the iso 32 or 64 bit?
  • If it is 64, make sure that the hardware-v is turned on in your bios.
  • If you can not find out where to turn it on you probably do not have it.
  • You would then need to contact the hardware vendor to find out if you have it or how to turn it on.
If it is 32 bit then make sure that the VT-x/AMD-v is turned off in the VBox settings for the guest.

It's 32-bit, and the VT-x/AMD-v is turned off. Nothing is happening.

Is the screen blank the whole time or after installation?
One longshot try disabling 3d-acceleration if it is on.

It stays blank so I never get to install anything.
