no network connection... not really...

Post by kazavsky »

Have virtalbox 2.2.2 with WinXP host and Debian Squeeze guest.

Issue I have on a fresh Debian Squeeze install is that debian shows "no network connection" available from the network manager applet. However, I can browse the web without any problem.
What might be broken?

This is not the first time I have seen the Network Manager applet failing to perform as expected.
I usually shut them down and do the network setup manually. This stops those nasty indicators that you are seeing which are not correct.
If you can use the network and are not experiencing any other problems just remember and go on until you see a problem.
