Hello,
I'm having an issue with Virtual Box not recognizing my network connection on an 32 bit XP guest.
I am running Virtualbox on a Vista64 machine. I guess first of all, I'm assuming that I can run a 32bit XP guest on a 64bit Vista host.
If that's fine I'm not quite sure why I can't set up a network connection on the guest.
Thanks
No Network Connection on my guest

Not enough information to be able to help.

- Please provide host and guest memory.
- What are the VBox settings (all of them) for the guest?
- What (if any) error messages are you getting?

Re: No Network Connection on my guest
Host Memory: 6GB
Guest Mem: 1279MB Base, 12MB Video
As far as error messages, I really only get one in Internet Explorer saying it can't access any web pages. In the Network Connections utility, no connections are shown.
Thank you

Re: No Network Connection on my guest
A few things that you can do here:
Assuming that this is a new install it may be possible that some of the drivers did not install properly.
Try to install again by right clicking the install program and telling it to run as administrator.
Select repair on the install screen, and watch for the drivers to load. When complete reboot the machine.
Also you should check the VBox settings and make sure that you see your network adapter in the list of adapters to use.
Use NAT or Bridged for the network settings as well.
Let us know what happens and whether you received any errors during the repair.

Re: No Network Connection on my guest
Sorry do you mean the install of Sun VirtualBox itself on the host or the operating system on the guest? I assume you mean Virtualbox because you suggest using run as admininstrator.Perryg wrote: Assuming that this is a new install it may be possible that some of the drivers did not install properly.

Re: No Network Connection on my guest
Alright. I got it to work with your help. Thanks!
I did run the repair utility on the VirtualBox install and restart the system.
Then I set up the Network adaptor as: Intel PRO/1000 T Server (Bridged adapter, Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection)
It also worked using NAT.
None of the other 5 Network Adaptor choices worked at all.
I appreciate the help.
