But the question is do you have this turned on in the bios of the PC?
Your bios must support hardware virtualization for Win7 64 bit to install as indicated by having enable hardware V or enable VT-x/AMD-v
You can also check with your hardware manufacture and verify that it does support the above.

I've re-downloaded the ISO from Microsoft website and it now works.

I realize that others jumped in but really. As I stated there had to be a reason why the file still had the DLM extension on it. The easiest way to find out is to download again without using a download manager and see if it will install. It would not be the first time that a DLM corrupted the ISO. If it works, situation solved. If not then we proceed to find out what the problem could be.

I did what you said, Perryg, and redownloaded it with HTTP.

This time I got the .iso file and it works!

There's just one more problem.

I installed Win7 when I first got it and it ran fine, but the next time I went to run it, it had to be installed again.

I do not want to have to reinstall it everytime I want to run my Win7.

Anyone know how to fix that?

I'm guessing you may still have the DVD .iso mounted - in effect, think of it as rebooting a PC with the install CD still in the drive - rather than booting from your newly installed Windows 7, it's just spinnning up the DVD again and starting setup...

To stop this, start VirtualBox and, right-click on your Win7 Virtual Machine and select Settings. Select CD-ROM, and unselect "Mount CD" (or change "Mount CD -> ISO Image File" to "Mount CD -> Host CD/ DVD ROM Drive".

Try that and let us know how you get on?

On a separate note - think my .ISO is screwed (getting the same problem as the original poster) - I can't download the RC from here using the Microsoft download helper (I'm in work and it's blocked) - can anyone provide a link to the Microsoft HTTP? I won't link to an off-MS site - there are too many images flying around that have been doctred with root-kits etc....
