Hello,
i downloaded the jaunty release and tried to run it from desktop (deb file) and from terminal - but so far major fail.

The documentation want help me either, so im asking here now for a step by step guide (terminal commands). On how to install virtualbox on my ubuntu 9.04 with windows XP.

Note:
When synaptic is running i get a strange error but no message indicateing it results from synaptic.

Installer runs now.

Habe zwar die deb laufen lassen und sah auch gut aus. Hatte aber keinerlei Effekt.
Habe nun per terminal
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose

VB installiert und windows install läuft nun.

Deb install had no effect.
using the command line with
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose
did the trick.

Maybe unreadable and removed 'cause it was thought that it was spam? I don't know, I didn't remove them.

Anyway, get yourself some books on Debian/Ubuntu and read up on it's package manager. You can't install anything using a different package manager when one is already running. Synaptic locks the package database, so running dpkg to install something will fail. Just add the repo from the site, then install it from Synaptic. Be sure to reload the headers first, else you won't see it.

Here at the forums we expect some basic knowledge from the users about the Host they are using. This question is part of that basic knowledge that is required for using the software.

but before this i had a conversation with a green marked user (mod i guess).

There was an error and the problem is not install, its a privilege error.

But well as i read on now, zou are not verz user orientated, therfor not intrested to improve zour softwware, therefor will lack certain success.

You lack respect to the rules and people who are helping you here. We expect users to do a little self education before coming here. If you are a new user, no matter what system you are using, you don't call a helpdesk when something doesn't work as you think it should. Your problem had nothing to do with VB itself, it was pure user error. Would you have gone to the forum of Mozilla if you couldn't open a website, if your internet didn't work? Would you call your ISP helpdesk, when you forgot to plugin in the computer/modem after moving it? That's the lack of respect for people you've shown here. We all do our best, and you through dirt in our face only because we expect something from your end.
