Hi, there.
I'm running v. 2.2.2 and trying to access a guest as if it were like any other member of my LAN.
After following instructions given here http://blogs.sun.com/acworkma/entry/vir ... working_in I found other members in my LAN were getting 192.168.56.* IPs from what I presume is VBox dhcp server.

What am I doing wrong?

Unfortunately the guide was for version 2.1 and is no longer required.
It is even stated in the post at the top that you do not need to do this.
That being said the ip addresses you are seeing probably is the address scheme for the network you are using. Have you checked to see (with VBox off) what the address the HOST gets by itself?

The host gets an 192.168.0.* IP
I see, among my network connections, one called "VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter" with the 192.168.56.1 IP set. When I start the guest up it gets an 192.168.56.* IP address. Other hosts are getting IPs in this range until I delete the bridge and disable "VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter". After doing this, everybody starts getting 192.168.0.* IPs again, as it should be.

Well, it seems that, after setting the vbox adapter for dhcp and recreating the bridge, now I can do bridged networking, which suits my needs.

I got a problem with my VB 2.2.2 and networking.

Got Vista x64 as host and XP SP3 as guest.

If I use "Bridged networking" than my router DHCP assigns a correct IP address to my XP System and I can use the Windows Shares but even with correct DNS and Gateway IPs the internet is not working.

If I use NAT networking, the internet works fine but no Windows shares.

Normally no firewall or MAC filters are activ. Any hints? With VB 2.1.4 everything worked fine.
