Network Printer (Using NAT)
Posted: 11. May 2009, 11:57
Hello,
I'm using Mac Leopard (IP address: 192.168.0.19) and have the Guest OS Windows XP installed (IP address: 10.x.x.x). My network settings are NAT.
I have for quite some time tried to install our network printer on my Guest OS, but I have had no luck.
I've googled for an hour how different systems (Parallels Dektop and VMware) have solved this problem and came to an conclusion.
This is a quick guide.
1, Locate your printer's IP - in my case 192.168.0.6.
2, In your Guest OS, go to Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes.
3, Hit "Add Printer".
4, Hit "Next" and then choose "Local Printer attatched to this computer".
Let it search by it's own, it schuldn't find anything.
5, Press "Next" and choose "Create a new port" and in the drop-down-menu pick "Standard TCP/IP Port".
A new window should appear
6, Press "Next" and in the field "Printer name or IP Address" you write your printers IP address (In my case 192.168.0.6)
7, Choose your brand and model (If you dont find your exact one insert the drivers disc).
Let your drivers install and press "Next" until everything is done
Hope this will help a bit!
