Hi everyone,
I've been making some tests with virtualbox. The main topic is trying to create a VM inside another VM.
I've the next configuration
Host: Ubuntu 9.10
Ubuntu's Guest and Debian_1's Host: Debian Lenny
Debian_1's Guest: Debian Lenny
Well... I could successfully start the debian_1's guest and mount a debian iso image for installing the debian GNU/Linux in the Debian_1's Guest, I can administrate that by rdesktop, but i've got a problem: The machine starts and the iso is mounted, but when i clic in expert installation it turn to be REALLY slow, for instance it takes more than half an hour to detect my processor!! and i don't know how long will it take to let me choose the installation language.
Some explanation?
I'd be so thankful.
Matias.-

Re: a VM inside another VM
I tried this too and it did not work. It's silly to do this, but there are situations where it may actually be useful for certain testing.
Any way to get it to work properly?
Also it would be fun to see how far you can go, ex: a vm inside a vm inside a vm etc...
What if you alternate vm programs, such as run vmware server then run virtualbox on vmware server, then vmware server again etc...
I like to push modern hardware to it's limits by performing useless tasks.

Ok I must point you to my previous post. Parallel VMs are achievable but stacked will not work. At least at this time.

Asked before. Nested virtualization is not supported. Some programs do allow it, but it's done with some ugly hacks or whatever. VB doesn't do it. Locked.
