Hello,
under Vista SP1 i found that the VBox (newest version) Networking driver causes long delay while going into standby (not hybrid, if i uninstall VBox its ok).
Anyone adressed this little problem? I found nothing in this forum and the web...
Thanks for any idea

How long does it take with and without Vbox loaded?

Re: Standby Problem with Networking Driver
Sorry, thought it could be better to post in german and my little english
But your question: without installed virtualbox standby needs only a few seconds, with it 30-40 seconds, vista says the driver causes delay for 30 or 40 sec, however.
Tested it under windows 7 rc, same problem, fresh install: 5 seconds to standby, virtualbox installed: 30 seconds or more delay. With WinXP there was no delay (older version of vbox)
not a big problem, because standby and wakeup works, but a little bit annoying.

Re: Standby Problem with Networking Driver
Thank you for understanding,
From my reading on the Vista Standby issues there are a lot. From video drivers to file signings that take Vista a long time to deal with. I will do more research and testing in this matter.

Re: Standby Problem with Networking Driver
Yes, i found some information about standby issues in vista, but nothing about this special problem. I don't think that i'm the only one who has this delay with VBox driver.
If i look at > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Performance Information and Tools > Advanced Tools, Vista says "Drivers causing windows to stand by or hibernate slowly...",
VBoxNetflt.sys and vboxnetadp.sys will prevent a quick standby. But why? Are this two drivers not perfectly adapted to vista? I hope the programmers will find an resolution, but it seems that at this time nobody has recognized this as a bug...i found nothing at the bugtracker.

I am sure that they probably already know this but just in case:
- Please use the public Bugtracker to raise a ticket on this issue. You will first need to register for a wiki user account (this is different to a forum account sorry) and then you can logon to the wiki and raise the ticket.

Re: Standby Problem with Networking Driver
I too am having problems with VirtualBox and standby. I'm running Windows XP. The problem started when I tried to upgrade from 2.2.2 to 2.2.4. The upgrade stalled, and I had to do a hard power down. Since then, my system won't go into standby at all. I left it sitting at the Preparing to Stand By screen for 8 hours. It never completed. I was finally able to get VirtualBox off my system using Revo Uninstaller. Stand by functionality immediately returned.
