Windows XP Port Forwarding Woes (DC++).

Hi. I'm running Kubuntu 9.04 as host with Virtualbox 2.2.2.

I have XP running great, apart from the networking side of things. Here is what I've done so far:

1. Guest, Windows XP is set to run in Bridged Adapter mode.
2. I've assigned a static IP address in XP (192.168.0.4) which is the address that ipconfig initially gave me.
3. Ports forwarded in Netgear DG834GT to above IP address.

But nothing can connect. I've read the relevant sections of the VirtualBox manual, which is why I selected Bridged Adaptor mode. Thanks for any help.

Check Firewall in both Kubuntu and Win XP
Make sure that the gateway and subnet mask for both match the Netgear address scheme.
If you still can't get this to work you will need to provide the network information from both machines.

Perryg: I'm starting to think that Kubuntu is blocking the ports. As far as I can tell, Kubuntu doesn't have a firewall. XP firewall is disabled.
Here are the ip config outputs (if they shed any light):

So why are you forwarding ports in the Netgear DG834GT? Is this something that you need to do for a specific reason?

I suggest that you put the router back to standard and make sure that the internal network works first. Guest to host / host to guest communications.
Then try connection to the internet. You may need to power down all equipment for 5 minutes and restart for changes to take effect.
