How many files made with ovf?import/export Functions

I was thinking the ovf file was going to be one file to pass around but the ovf file is only about 5 kbs and there's a vdmk file next to it which doesn't match the file name for my ovf file so I assume they are seperate files.

Is this the way ovf works?

O.k. , so current ovf export is 2 or more files.

Also tripped over something I had asked you about in the past about copying virtual drives. Apparently there's a method to copy drives and reuse them with different ID's. Still haven't found it built into virtual box though(external file?).
