"Bridged network" - missing in network settings

Host: Ubuntu 8.10
Guest: XP
VirtualBox: 2.1.4
The option "Bridged network" is missing, any ideas why and how I can get it?VirtualBox User Manual wrote:
To enable bridged networking, all you need to do is to open the Settings dialog of
a virtual machine, go to the “Network” page and select “Bridged network” in the drop
down list for the “Attached to” field.
