Accessing physical harddrives from within XP-Guest

Hi all,
I'm kinda new here, so please don't hit me when I put my question in the wrong section.
First I will explain my situation:
I run Ubuntu for 90% of time, but for some applications Linux does not have the right program to do the same I can do now. One of these things is Newsleecher and its supersearch functionality. I pay for it and therefor want to use it.
I made a Virtualbox-XP machine (the standard way), but size is limited.
I installed Guest Additions and everything seems to be fine, BUT:
When I change the download location in Newsleecher to "VBOXSVRData on VirtualBox Shared Folders\Newsleecher\Leech" (in which Data is the name of the disk the downloaded data should go to), the data I leech gets written to "C:\VBOXSVR\Data\Newsleecher\Leech", which means my VirtualBox runs full in no time.
Does anybody have any Idea what could go wrong?
I just want to write the leeched data from Newsleecher (in Virtualbox-XP) to another harddrive in my computer.
I hope I explained my problem clear enough.
Best regards,
Mischa
