Virtual machine hangs, then crashes at startup

Hello-

A VM I'm trying to run keeps crashing on start-up. The machine starts to boot, then the screen goes black. Often, this is followed up by a dialogue box announcing that there was a critical error, although sometimes it hangs indefinitely. I can't post the entire log file, since it may expose some information that I'm NDAed on, but the error message that I'm getting is this:

00:00:55.513 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone recognize this message and have any ideas for how I might go about troubleshooting this issue? Sorry I can't post more more information at this time.

Regards,
Eric

VBox version?
Host memory / guest memory?
Other settings in the VB settings would be helpful.
VT-x/AMD-v on or off?
Does bios has VT-x/AMD-v turned on?

Whops, I filled that information out when I registered and forgot to add it to the ticket. Here you go:

I'm running VirtualBox 2.2.0 on a Windows XP host. It might be significant to mention that the host is a VM itself (its host is also Windows XP). The host has 1GB of memory. The guest has 256MB of memory assigned to it. VT-x/AMD-v is not enabled in the guest. I see no settings for it in the host bios, so I'm going to assume it is off. Here are some other settings from VB:

OS Type: Linux 2.6
Base Memory: 256 MB
Video Memory: 10MB
Boot Order: CD/DVD-ROM, Hard Disk
ACPI: Enabled
IO APIC: Disabled
VT-x/AMD-V: Disabled
Nested Paging: Disabled
PAE/NX: Disabled
3D Acceleration: Disabled

Let me know if there is anything else I can provide.

Regards,
Eric

VBox wants total control, running VBox inside VBox or other virtualization software is not supported.

One other point of clarification, my setup is that I'm running VMWare Workstation on WindowsXP that is hosting a VM running WindowsXP. This VM is my development environment. I'm running VB inside my development environment. VB crashes in this environment, which is running on my desktop machine. My laptop has an almost identical setup, except it is running Windows Vista on the bare metal. It is running a similar WindowsXP VM which has VB running in it. On my laptop, this setup works. My guess is that the problem is being caused by some difference in the underlying resource made available to VB (by way of my development environment VM). I attached two files. Each describes the CPUID dump that I get in my laptop (CPUID_DUMP-GOOD.txt - VB works here) and in my desktop (CPUID_DUMP-ERROR.txt).

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Eric

Regardless, I'd like to get this working. I, and many others, have had success running VirtualBox from within VMWare. It's just this one instance where it is not working.
