recursive virtualbox

Post by binary.koala »

hello all,
have anyone archived recursive virtualbox setups? i mean running virtualbox within guest system. yes, it might seem as an awkward thing to do, however the possibility is there (since we have a complete virtual PC).
which ever of 2.6.20+ kernels i tried booting (noapic nolapic acpi=off) ended up frozen after first milliseconds of boot, after "dentry cache hash..." kernel message.

i would appreciate any input, or a clue why that doesn't work.

thanks

I think that the common denominator here is virtual PC. I have not nor do I know of anyone that has achieved this. I have heard one or two that say they had but when looking at their screen shot you can see that it had been photo shopped to look like they had.

I and others have tried it with VB, won't work. The devs already stated this. You can use nested virtualization with VB. It might be possible with other packages, but not VB.
