Vbox becomes unresponisve on RHEL Client 5.3

The Guest environment freezes and Vbox becomes unresponsive.
I have to kill the process through the command line. the restart Vbox.
Host system
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.3 (Tikanga)
Kernel: 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz
MemTotal: 2GB
Guest System
Windows XP Service pack 3
Base memory: 756 MB
Video Memory: 16 MB
