VBox shared folders or a Vista share.

And for your USB issue:
Use a blank filter (.) and then boot the guest. Unplug the USB device and plug it back in to get focus and it should appear in the guest.

I am having the same problem here and had tried the method mentioned by Perryg and my VM was able to detect my thumbdrive.
But the problem is after my VM detected the thumb drive it wont install the thumb drive driver. So my VM somehow doesnt recognize the thumb drive thus my VM cant use the thumb drive.
Any solution here?
Thank

With the new version of VBox (3.0.6) I can no longer get the USB to work in my Vista host either. I had given up trying to use it as it rarely works correctly and usually causes the VBox program to crash when you try to load it the first time. After you get it to work it will continue to work until you reboot the host then you must go through the whole process of loading-crashing-killing the VBoxSVC in the task manager and then loading again. What I do any more is share the USB drive in the host and access it via a share.
